Design, manufacture, & installation of structural components

Supervision of assembly of experimental equipment

Documentation of common processes

Deere & co. — Summer 2012

Structural components

I designed various structures for component mounting and cable routing for experimental and next-generation forestry equipment. I also oversaw the manufacture and installation of those experimental components. I used Pro/Engineer (Creo) to design each component, and advanced modeling techniques that none of my coworkers were familiar with were occasionally required. In these instances, I was able to teach myself through my own research.

Experimental machinery

Existing forestry equipment was being retrofitted with experimental hardware for testing. This required routing of hydraulic and electrical lines as well as mounting and packaging of prototype components. I worked with one other engineer and a technician, and the machine was completed in time for its testing phase.

Process documentation

When I learned skills that were new to the office or when I found myself repeatedly asking the same question while working on a common process I would create reference documents so that neither I nor anyone else in the office would need to ask the same question more than once.
